A Busy Week in LA

Kyle:

Another week signaled another round of tasks for me to complete in both of my internships. I continued submitting clients for roles during pilot season, and this week we finally heard back from casting directors about some clients. Most calls were about Jay Mohr, some were for Bill Bellamy, and a few for Cheri Oteri and Nikki Cox. There was a great call about one of Barry’s younger clients, Melissa Villasenor’s, audition.

On The Late Late Show, I moved up from giving umbrellas out!  It was great getting to interact with the audience again. I met a guy originally from New Jersey who went to Emerson College; he did a semester-long internship in LA, just like I’m doing right now!  It was really cool to see that I may very well end up out here like he did. 1iota is in the process of enhancing their customer service by sending out emails asking why audience members who were given tickets to the show didn’t ultimately show up. Some of the celebrities interviewed this week were Megan Mullally, Sarah Paulson, and Jim Parsons.  I even got a small smile from Megan when she was leaving the building.

On Friday, I experienced my first Barry Katz podcast.  It was an extremely busy day in the office, and a two-hour long podcast taping was actually a welcomed break.  It interesting to see Barry’s office transformed into a podcast recording studio. After a Starbucks run for Barry’s crew and guest, Bill Bellamy, I brought Bill up into the office when he arrived, which was important because it was the first time I was speaking with him other than on the phone.  After all was settled, I ended my workweek listening in on the podcast and hearing Barry and Bill’s advice for people like me trying to break into the industry.
